Meet Grier

I’m Grier Hopkins. My wife, our three year old daughter and I are all lifelong Fairbanks Borough residents and four generations of our families have lived here. Products of our local public schools, we have served our community for generations, and believe deeply in giving back to this wonderful place we call home. I have served on the boards of Kids Voting, Fairbanks Youth Soccer, Central Labor Council, Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation and the Golden Heart Community Foundation and am a member of the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce. I was a State Representative from 2018 until 2022 for House District 4. As a legislator, I sponsored a bill to protect public investment in troopers, firefighters, and educators, crafted a first ever proactive strategy to reduce wildfire risks, and successfully increased education funding. I have always worked across the political aisle and will put that bi-partisan approach to work for our Borough. For over a decade, I’ve worked in the private sector for the organized employees of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District as a labor representative, negotiator and organizer.

I have deep roots in our Interior Alaska community and am dedicated to the success of our diverse neighborhoods, families and businesses. I have a deep understanding of the local landscape and a vision for a thriving Fairbanks. I am ready to put in the work to drive progress and enhance the quality of life for everyone in our Borough.

I’d appreciate your vote on October 1st!

Gratefully,
